Access information

We want everyone to be able to enjoy visiting Bridport Museum with ease and comfort. Our amazing displays are housed within an old building- but we have done our best to modernise amenities and include the special accessibility features outlined below.

Getting in

The main entrances to both the Museum and Local History Centre are easy level access for wheelchair users and pushchairs. Small vehicles can drop passengers and blue badge-holders at our Local History Centre in Gundry Lane which is a few hundred yards across the road from the Museum.

Please call us on 01308 458703 to arrange parking.

Ask for a folding chair at reception if you fancy a sit down during your visit.

Working Dogs

Assistance dogs are welcome at the museum. Our staff will be happy to provide drinking water for your dog.

Wheelchair access on site

There is a fully accessible lift in the Museum, from the ground floor to the first floor.

PLEASE NOTE: THE LIFT IS CURRENTLY OUT OF ACTION. We apologise for any inconvenience.

There is level access on each floor with ample space to manoeuvre between displays. There are no doors between galleries to open.

Accessible toilet

There is an accessible toilet on the ground floor.

We love babies- they are very welcome! There are baby changing facilities in the accessible toilet, and space to park buggies so you can wander round the Museum without them if you wish.
