Bridport Museum Awarded £29,218 Grant to Boost Visitor Experience

Bridport Museum is thrilled to announce that it has received a grant of £29,218 from the Museum Renewal Fund. This funding comes through the generous support of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and Arts Council England.

This grant will make a meaningful impact on the museum’s operations and visitor experience. Specifically, the funding will enable us to:

  • Refresh and repair our permanent displays

  • Strengthen our marketing to reach wider audiences

  • Purchase a new till system to enhance visitor and retail services

  • Access expert support for business planning and sustainability

  • Cover essential running costs over the coming year

We’re extremely grateful for this vote of confidence in our work. It gives us the opportunity to enhance both our public offering and behind-the-scenes operations.

Currently, we manage three sites: the museum itself, a separate collection store, and a history centre.  Although we generate income from admission fees and our shop, our ability to grow commercially is limited by available space in our main museum building. For that reason, funding like this is vital to our future.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to DCMS and Arts Council England for supporting us through the Museum Renewal Fund. Their investment ensures that museums like ours can continue to protect, share, and celebrate local heritage for generations to come.
