Our volunteers are a friendly and welcoming bunch!
Whether you’re looking to make new friends, or would like to add something different to your CV, there are lots of ways to get involved.
There are opportunities to volunteer on site, as well as from home. Here is a taster of what you could be doing:
- Front of House Team: welcoming visitors to the Museum & Museum Shop and helping them get the most out of their visit
- Ropemakers: giving live demonstrations to visitors and schools on our rope walk
- Museum Makers: using crafty skills to make items for sale in the museum shop
- Collections and Conservation Team: from cataloguing objects to monitoring pests!
- Local History Team: helping people to research their past at the Local History Centre
- Research Team: delving into our archives to find the hidden stories (on site or from home)
- Digital Team: helping to create brilliant online content (from home)
- Events Team: representing the Museum at annual events such as The Melplash Show, and helping out at special events such as Bridport Christmas Cheer
- Exhibitions Team: helping to research, design and curate temporary exhibitions (can be done partially from home)
- Maintenance Team: keeping the Museum safe and looking at its best
- Learning Team: facilitating school visits and helping families to get the most out of the Museum and our events
- Reminiscence Team: visiting care homes and facilitating sessions with older people
- Office Administrator: working closely with the Museum Manager to assist with the smooth running of the Bridport Museum office
