Exhibition: Curator v Chaos

We need your help!

We’ve dug lots of paintings out of our stores.

The selection is random but gives a taste of what we usually have to keep behind closed doors.

We want to create better exhibitions in the future, so when you visit, we want you tell us:

  • Which paintings should we keep?
  • What should we do with the ones we don’t want?
  • What should we replace them with in the future?

In other words, if you were the curator, what would you do?

This exhibition is part of our big project: ‘The Right Stuff’ : which is helping us declutter our stores and collect better objects and more interesting stories in the future.

Follow the story so far, and tell us your ideas- what would you chuck, and what would you cherish?

This project is funded by the Museums Association and Esmee Fairbairn Collections Fund. The Esmee Fairbairn Collections Fund is run by the Museums Association, funding projects that develop collections to achieve social impact. Since its launch in 2011, it has awarded 101 projects with grants totally nearly £8.4m in 16 funding rounds. Between 2017 and 2019 it is offering a total of £3.5 million in grants to Museums Association members, as well as providing events and resources for the whole sector. www.museumsassociation.org./collections.
